The work
Tree Yourself is an audio work in which two voices trace the slow work of growing together. Roots entwine, seasons pass, and sometimes the ground itself has to be left behind.
Using the life of a tree as a structure for thinking about attachment and migration, the work follows what happens when a living system is transplanted: what survives the move, what changes, and what has to be grown again. Rooting is not treated as a return to stability, but as an ongoing process of forming new connections with a place and with another person.
Tree Yourself asks how belonging can continue after displacement — and how, after leaving one ground behind, we begin to take root again.
The festival
Emigration to the Future was an interdisciplinary festival that took place in Berlin-Wedding, 7–9 August 2026, bringing together artists, performers and researchers from seven countries working across performance, installation, video, sound and public intervention. Curated by Vsevolod Lisovsky and Anton Polski (MAKE / Citizen Make), across venues including exBrache, Chto Delat and public space around Wedding.
