The work
Tea Party with Schrödinger's Cat is a quantum performance by the Committee of Miracle Seekers, built around the idea that in the present moment optimism may depend on the possibility of a miracle.
Participants in different places gather around an imaginary common table and treat themselves as versions of a single particle observed in several locations. A Geiger-counter signal triggers an action at each site. At first the actions are independent; gradually they begin to change in response to one another.
The performance borrows the language of quantum uncertainty as the operating logic for a contemporary ritual. Instead of magic producing a miracle through hidden forces, coordinated actions attempt to influence an invisible dimension connecting participants across distance.
If a miracle happens, the Committee proposes to develop its production on an industrial scale. If it does not — or if nobody notices it — the research continues.
The festival
