The work
Three Models of Pitiful Pieces is an irregular sound happening built from found objects, body sounds, gestures and physical actions.
Instead of beginning with a fixed musical score, the work uses whatever is present as compositional material. Objects can be misappropriated from their expected functions; a gesture can generate a sound; an accidental event can redirect the structure of the piece. The performers respond to the situation rather than attempting to stabilize it.
The work treats unpredictability not as an interruption but as a source of form. Sound emerges from bodies, things and circumstances that were not designed to belong together.
Each realization therefore produces a different piece. Composition happens in real time through attention to the immediate environment, making the unexpected not a problem to overcome but the principal instrument of the performance.
