The work
Change of State is a multi-channel video installation built around the multiple meanings of the word state: condition, position, nation, status, form and political structure.
Abstract patterns and ornaments continuously morph across walls, ceilings and floors rather than remaining contained by a screen. Their boundaries stretch, overlap and dissolve, turning the architecture itself into a changing field. A soundtrack combines a heartbeat with the sound of pages being turned in Benjamin Hoff's The Tao of Pooh.
The work begins from the experience of irreversible change since 2022. War alters not only political states but individual states of being: location, social position, consciousness and the relation to one's own previous life.
Projected onto raw surfaces, the images refuse a stable frame. Change of State makes transformation spatial, surrounding the viewer with a condition in which neither bodies, borders nor meanings remain fixed for long.
The festival
Emigration to the Future was an interdisciplinary festival that took place in Berlin-Wedding, 7–9 August 2026, bringing together artists, performers and researchers from seven countries working across performance, installation, video, sound and public intervention. Curated by Vsevolod Lisovsky and Anton Polski (MAKE / Citizen Make), across venues including exBrache, Chto Delat and public space around Wedding.
